Now that the Council of State declared the appeals against the granted environmental permit for the realization of Windpark de Pals near Bladel unfounded on 31 July 2024, there is a green light for further follow-up steps. This also means that there will be a direct connection between one of those wind turbines and the Kempisch Bedrijvenpark. Eighteen companies recently signed a cooperation agreement there for an energy hub with grid operator Enexis. They will organize the consumption and generation of energy collectively. Local energy system
The energy hub is a pilot of Enexis, the municipality of Bladel, the province of Noord-Brabant and the collaborating companies and should lead to a local energy system that delivers affordable and clean power faster and more space on the grid. Energeia already reported on this in this article in May.
The companies will jointly get one connection to the grid. By the end of next year, all eighteen companies must be connected to the park. The group contract must also be ready and signed by then.
Not immediately arranged
Not all eighteen companies on the park were immediately convinced that handing in their contract was a good idea. Ultimately, there were three important arguments to convince the companies. Firstly, solidarity with the neighbours. But in addition, companies can earn money by making excess capacity, or generated electricity, available to the group. Finally, the collaboration on the business park makes all companies less dependent on the Enexis grid, and therefore on the purchase of external energy.
Wind farm de Pals
The plans initially included the arrival of a wind farm. However, the Council of State had to wait for its decision on whether the park would be allowed to be built.
The decision concerned the environmental permit for the Pals wind farm, which, according to Windenergie-nieuws, was granted on 17 March 2022 by the board of mayor and aldermen of Bladel for a wind farm on four plots directly north of the A67 highway, in the rural area of Bladel, for a period of 25 years. This would enable the realisation of a wind farm consisting of four wind turbines, each with a hub height of up to approximately 160 metres and a maximum tip height of 240 metres in a line-up, including associated facilities and with a combined capacity of approximately 22 MW.
Now that the Administrative Law Division has declared the appeals against the environmental permit unfounded on 31 July, the environmental permit remains in place. Windpark de Pals can now proceed with the next steps. Enexis will build a direct connection between one of those wind turbines and the industrial estate. The wind turbine will then become part of the cooperative.
