In the previous permit round for the construction and operation of 2 GW offshore wind farms, RVO received fewer bids than expected. That is why the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth is splitting the new plots for the 2 GW IJmuiden Ver Gamma and Nederwiek I wind farms into plots of 1 GW. This means that developers need to invest less per wind farm and the financial risks are smaller.
"We are very pleased with this wise decision by the ministry. NedZero has asked for this, which makes the tender more competitive and it makes risks more manageable. We look forward to the details of the compensation scheme for delays, it must be fair and adequate."
Still 4 GW
This has been announced by RVO here and here. In total, it still concerns 4 GW of installed capacity of wind energy at sea.
Plot IJmuiden Ver Gamma has been split into 2 plots:
- IJmuiden Ver Gamma-A (eastern lot) - 1 GW
- IJmuiden Ver Gamma-B (western lot) - 1 GW
Plot Nederwiek I is split into 2 plots:
- Nederwiek IA (southern lot) - 1 GW
- Nederwiek IB (northern lot) - 1 GW
Tender durations
The application period for the permits for these lots opens and closes at the end of the 3rd quarter of 2025. The exact opening and closing date will (probably) be published by RVO at the beginning of 2025. More information about the draft versions of the ministerial regulations may already be available in the last quarter of 2024.
The draft plot decisions are expected to be published at the end of 2024. View more about the (draft) plot decisions IJmuiden Ver Gamma-A and Gamma-B and the (draft) plot decisions Nederwiek IA and IB .
