The winners of the tender for two plots in the IJmuiden Ver wind energy area have been announced by RVO . Lot Alpha, with a focus on ecology, was won by: Noordzeker. This is a partnership between SSE Renewables, ABP and APG. For the Beta lot, with a focus on system integration, the winner is: Zeevonk. This is a partnership between Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
"We congratulate Noordzeker and Zeevonk and wish them every success with the implementation of these wonderful projects, which are of great significance for the Dutch energy supply."
First wind farms with direct current
The wind energy area will supply approximately 17,200 GWh of electricity per year to the Dutch electricity grid. That is 2 GW per plot.
Grid operator TenneT will build 2 GW HVDC platforms for these two plots that will land with direct current cables at Borsele for IJmuiden Ver Alpha and the 2nd Maasvlakte for Bèta. These are the first offshore wind farms in the Netherlands to be connected with a direct current connection.
